Mr.Ned

                                                                     Mr.Ned 2007

My horse is called Mr.Ned and he is just under 15 hands.  He is an old duck - 21 years old.  He is a palimino - cream coloured - quater horse.  He is really beautiful and really quiet so he is the best horse for me.  I really love him and hopefully I will be riding him everywhere soon!!

new horse

A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
And no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ned.

Go right to the source and ask the horse
He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse.
He's always on a steady course.
Talk to Mr. Ned.

People yakkity yak a streak and waste your time of day
But Mister Ned will never speak unless he has something to say.

A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
And this one'll talk 'til his voice is hoarse.
You never heard of a talking horse?

Well listen to this.

I am Mister Ned.

Thats right peoples

I have my own new old horse!!
His name is Mr.Ned
and I love him!

Gorillas Among The Trees

They climb the trees
Moving with ease
Enjoying the coolness of the breeze
They innocently work through the day
Eating, climbing, sleeping in a peaceful way
Until we come along
Yelling, screaming and shooting
We do all the uprooting
We frighten and scare them
We sell and we wear them
We destroy this world of peace
With shameful ease
We kill them and remove there hide
We give there fur to the bride
The male gorilla
The silver back
Will come to try and help is pack
But again we just shoot him down
We leave him dead upon the ground
I do not think there is an excuse
For such horrible physical abuse
To these lovely creatures
Among the trees.

Trip Away

On Sunday mum took me down to the city to stay over night with an adult friend.  I have been here one day, one evening and one morning - about a day and a half.  So far we have gone to one of her rehersals for a performance, gone for a walk in the rain, started painting a shed and watched a movie.  It has been heaps of fun and I am enjoying it a lot.  Every-nown-again I feel a bit homesick but I always lighten up.  I have no pics as I forgot to bring my camera but that does not matter.  I will try to keep you up to date on a daily bases now I have my laptop charger - I left it at home - each night but we willm see how we go.  Keep chacking in for updates!

Hairdresser and Computer

I had a haircut yesterday!  It looks really good.  Instead of going the usual Jessie J style, I tried something shorter - an it really suits me!!
I also have recently convinced my mother to buy my little sister and I each a laptop - for educational purposes.  We have been looking for something small and light so that it is easier to carry around.  So far we have decided on a 13" notebook.  We had a look at the tablets but none of them really suited our purposes.  So now we are waiting for the right thing to come along - if you know of any other electrical device that might suit our needs please comment below!
I am sorry I have no photo of my new haircut yet- that will be in my next post.

Cubbyhouse and Chiropractor

The cubby house before
WOW.  That was really interesting!!!!!  Today the chiropractor/masseuse for horses came over.  She came over and had a look at Samilla first.  Samilla had a really bad back apparently- so she got acupuncture!  That was so interesting - and funny!  Mum had to hold Samilla while the lady stuck a needle in.  Now Samilla did not like having needles stuck in her.  So she tried to either run away or bite mum!  Mum (this being he first time) had a-lot of trouble keeping Samilla still enough for the lady to stick the needle in.  So Indi and I had a bit of a laugh.  Eventually it was all done and Samilla was looking much better!  So she was let go and fed some delicious carrots. Nom nom nom.  Then it was Little Sue's turn!  Samilla stood off to the side silently laughing at poor Sue- 'itz your turn now little pony!'.  Sue had some acupuncture as-well.  Though not as intense as Samillas'.    So we have two healthy and happy horses now.  Indi and I also built a cubbyhouse today!  It is really cool.  first we found a pallet.  Then we found a cabinet near the dumpsters.  We put the cabinet on the pallet and dragged the pallet over to a tree.  Then we used that to build a kitchen.  So that was pretty cool.

How my confidence fell

I was very confident when I joined my sister's enjoyment of horses.  I jumped on a pony without a second thought and would ride with radiating confidence.  I would trot on trail rides and go off alone as-well.  Until the first fall.  Ok it was not really a 'fall' it was just a 'horse spooks and you dangle off the edge of the saddle until you pull yourself back up' moment.  So that kind of worried me but I continued riding and was only a little nervous.  That nervousness was soon over come.

Until I actually fell off.  That hurt and I again became nervous.  Only a little nervous though.  Until the horse spooked again.  Nervous bar is up to 3/10.  Then I came off again which was entirely my fault cause I cantered when I shouldn't have and the horse would not stop.  So I had another friendly reunion with the ground.  So I am starting to get fairly nervous but not nervous enough to stop riding. I continue to get back on the horse. So a couple of spooks later on Taya's Nervous-meter the bar is up to 7.

Now I am back on the lead rope.  I am very nervous and I am afraid I will fall off again.  Well guess what happens a few weeks later? No, actually I didn't fall off.  I actually got a little bit more confident and was riding a GINORMOUS horse called Lothar - yeah you know the one.  So I am feeling more confident and was at a friend's house when she convinced me into riding a 2 year old pony - in the process of being broken in - BAREBACK with nothing to hold on to.  Yeah, not a good plan.  The horse was fine it just under-estimated my hight with a tree branch and when I told him not to go under it he spooked and took off from underneath me.  So I came off again.

Now I am really nervous and am on the lead rope.  However there is a trail ride coming up this weekend and I will either not be able to go or will have to ride without a lead rope.  A few days before the ride I go stuff it I am going to ride this pony!  It was a really good ride.  So I went on the trail ride.  When there was the biggest spook ever.  My horse took off at a canter and if it was not for the saddle I was in I would be flat on the ground.  So now I am very nervous and am continuing with the lead rope for a while and am doing a lot of trust based things with my horse.  I also have become great friends with the ground!

Rapidly Reading

Rapidly reading through the pages,
This book is fat and goes for ages,
Yet I can not put it down,
This book about a silly clown,
A dog with a dopey grin,
A prize cat waiting to win,
A monster, a fish, and even a bat,
A horse that really wants a pat,
A mystery case, a speedy cop chase,
A shoot out with lack of grace,
A spy,a lie, a poisoned pie,
And a little girl that starts to cry,
As you can see it's thrilling,it's great,
I read through the pages and hungrily wait,
Until I sadly turn the last page,
And see the little girl is locked in a cage,
I quickly search the shelf and find,
The next book with a broken bind,
I open up and flip the page,
and read the story's very next stage,
And this is how I spend my days,
going through this reading phase.

My Awesome Steed

I am getting a horse!!!!!
Myself upon my mighty steed.
I am so excited.  His name is Lotha- pronounced Lota.

Well now this big boy has turned up. He is 25 and is a gelding-had his bits removed.
He is almost 17 hands- to work out size 1 hand = 4 inches. So he is HUGE!!!
His size in comparison to mine.
I am doing a week of slave work with his owner then he is coming to live with us!!!!

All I want for christmas is...

All I want for christmas is a poem
Just a poem for me
Dont want a doll
Dont want a dog
Do not want a bee
Perhaps a poem the sky
Or a poem of a fly
I do not want a horse
Or a jumping course
I just want a poem
Just a poem for me

The world of words

Come see the magical world
The magical world of words
A world for you and me
A world for all the children
Whose friends are A, B and C
Down there is story lane
Down there you will see
The best lane of them all
The lane of poetry
Down that lane are different poems
Poems for us to see
but first you will need the key
Come and follow me
here you are
Ta-ta
Will see you again soon
Underneath the moon
on the world of words

Chairs

I go to lots of fairs.
At  fairs I sell chairs.
I sell red chairs, green chairs,
Yellow chairs, and clean chairs,
Brown chairs, clown chairs,
Fancy chairs and crown chairs.
I sell chairs with swirls, chairs with curls,
Chairs that are made with pearls,
Chairs that are for a top of a bike,
chairs that you carry on a big hike,
Chairs that you use when you motor,
Chairs for a scary roller-coaster.
I sell these chairs and many more,
but the best chair of all is the one that can roar.

Help Me Save Mountain Gorillas!

Ever since I watched the film 'Gorillas in the Mist' I have wanted too help save mountain gorillas.
After doing a lot of research I have found out that there are only 790 mountain gorillas left in the world!!
I also found this website that helps save gorillas and you can help save gorillas too! I had a look but there is not much I , a pre-teen, can do.Then a few days after mum got an e-mail about electric cars in a power point presentation and it asked to send on presentation to 10 friends to make an aware-ness around the world then a light bulb suddenly lit in my head. I could do the same thing with the gorillas!  I have now made a goal in saving gorillas and this power-point is in production and as soon as it is ready I will post it on this blog for every one to see. In the mean time this is a good beginning to my goal.  Does anyone feel as passionately about gorillas as I do?  Please go to the link and see if this interests you and if so if there is anything you can do to help.

FROM TREE TO SAPLING

I was a fallen down tree
But I am fallen no more
I’m 250,they call me weak and old, but I have not yet begun.
I have an axe at my bark
With a human attached
Next more people come and start struggling and yelling
Not to cut me down
After they are chained to me
They make a lot of sound
Afterwards they leave me
Alone in peace at last.
I sway along with the winter wind until it comes to pass
I find I have some leaves, relief from being bare
They are orange red and brown, my I do look fair.
I realise this is autumn but not for long for
My leaves are turning green and many more I find on me
Then children come and climb my branches
WHOOPS don’t fall there
Next a faun comes frolicking, jumping ‘round my trunk
Summer comes to an end and spring comes like lightning
As people come to bunk
They marvel at the blossoms and bushes and the trees that are so young and rare
Also at the wildlife they sit, watch, draw and stare
Then all my leaves drop to the ground once again and I become naked and bare
The years fly by repeatedly
The same events each time
just new people, new youngsters to help pass the time
Until I’m but a sapling
A simple baby tree
I get no leaves
I have no fine trunk
Children walk right past me as if I’m not even there
And no one comes to bunk
But now I’m one of the plants at which scientist like to stare
I’m gradually growing smaller shrinking until I’m just a seed
I sleep in the soil all day as the worms wriggle around me
Now another year has past and I’m sitting on a tree
Im just another seed in the pod I’m surrounded by many other seeds
I have made many new friends
But still I keep on shrinking becoming nothing more than a spirit that can float through the floor
Now I just float around looking after others until I start another life
Lets hope it’s not backwards.

BEES IN A HONEY POT

Whether you’re a red rose, blue rose, pink rose or yellow rose,
What’s the difference were all watered by a garden hose
Were a colony, bees in a honey pot
If we work together we could achieve a lot
Why should we despise
People who in our eyes
Are different to who we are
We all have a wishing star
It doesn’t matter if one towers taller
Or whether she’s a blacks or whites daughter
Cause were all the same
There is no need for shame
So if people despise who we are
Remember we are all a shining star
